You must have this registration if you intend to operate a food business. A food business is a business, enterprise or activity that involves the handling of food intended for sale or the sale of food (e.g. cafe, restaurant, bakery, market food stall, etc).
Please be aware that you are required to comply with the requirements of the Food Standards Code to maintain this registration and your premises may be inspected at any time to ensure that it is compliant.
Those businesses that are only involved in primary food production do not require this registration. Some other exemptions from this registration requirement may apply.
