You will require this licence if you intend to operate a vehicle as a taxi. This licence enables the taxi to be hired from a taxi zone, by being hailed, or by being booked and ordered. This licence must not be leased or assigned to another person.
There are two ways to obtain one of these licences. You may tender for one as part of an annual release by the government, or subject to the consent of the Agency, an existing licence holder can transfer their licence to you. A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
In order to be eligible for this licence you must:
- Be a natural person (as this licence is not issued to a company);
- Be accredited to operate a taxi;
- Be a registered operator of a suitable vehicle that is not used to provide a taxi service under the authority of another taxi licence;
- Demonstrate that you will be the operator of the taxi;
- Have no outstanding fees due to the Agency;
- Submit the required application form and any associated documents; and
- Pay the prescribed fees.

Annual administration fees vary and depend on the area(s) in which you intend to operate.
Issue of replacement plate: $27.54; Issue of replacement label: $15.30.
You will need to submit a tender to the Agency when licence tenders are advertised.
