You will require this accreditation if you intend to operate a passenger transport service. Passenger transport services are defined as those that operate:
- Vehicles on a public street for the purpose of carrying passengers, regardless of whether the passengers are paying a fare or whether the service is available to members of the public;
- Luxury hire cars; or
- Restricted hire vehicles.
Accreditation is a legal requirement and acknowledges that you have in place processes, systems and standards that ensure the safety of the service you intend to provide. If you intend to operate a passenger transport service that involves taxis, luxury hire cars or restricted hire vehicles you will also require the appropriate operational licence in addition to holding accreditation. Services operated using large vehicles (10 or more seats) do not require an operational licence.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
