Approval of Electrical Articles - Tasmania

Service summary

You will require this approval if you intend to import or manufacture low voltage electrical equipment (includes equipment rated between 50Vac to 1000Vac), that is designed or marketed as suitable for household use. The approval is needed if the electrical article is the first of its type to be imported or manufactured in Australia.

This approval allows electrical articles to be sold in Australia. An electrical article includes electrical appliances or parts of electrical appliances.

To gain this approval you are required to register as a Responsible Supplier on the online national database and ensure that all equipment be marked with the regulatory compliance mark (RCM).

Sellers of low voltage electrical equipment (including retail, wholesale, auction, markets, internet sales etc) must not sell electrical articles unless the equipment is linked to a Responsible Supplier.
