Code of Practice for the Welfare of Horses at Horse Hire Establishments - Victoria

Service summary

You will be required to comply with this code if you intend to hire out horses for use by other people. This code outlines the minimum standards required for horse care and management in horse hire establishments. In addition to outlining requirements for general care and accommodation, it details the responsibilities of proprietors, supervisors, staff and riders.

By complying with this code of practice you may be able to demonstrate that you have met your legal responsibilities. It may be a defence to a charge of animal cruelty that you have complied with this code of practice.

Please consult the responsible agency for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
