Approval of Gaming Machine Types and Games - Victoria

Description

You will need this approval if you are a manufacturer or supplier of gaming machines and intend to create a new gaming machine type or game. You will also need this approval to vary an existing approved gaming machine type or game.

A gaming machine type means any device, whole or partly mechanically or electronically operated, that is designed so that:

  • its purpose is to play a game of chance or a game of mixed chance and skill
  • as a result of making a bet, winnings may become payable.

A gaming machine does not include:

  • lucky envelope vending machines
  • interactive gaming equipment used for interactive gaming.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must:

  • submit the gaming machine type or game for evaluation
  • provide any additional information or material that the Agency considers necessary for the evaluation
  • pay the prescribed fee.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

The Agency may impose any conditions upon the approval of a gaming machine type or a game and may withdraw the approval if it considers it necessary or appropriate in the public interest or for the proper conduct of gaming.

Heavy penalties apply for the use of a gaming machine type or a game without the approval of the Agency.
