You will be required to be licensed if you intend to participate in harness racing in Victoria. For example, you must be licensed if you intend to be a trainer or driver of a horse in a harness race, or if you intend to be a stable hand.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for harness racing industry licences you must:
- complete the required forms
- possess a current National Police Check if you intend to be a driver or trainer
- have completed a the appropriate Certificate or Training if you intend to be a driver or trainer
- meet the minimum age requirements (14 years of age for a stable hand, 15 years of age for a driver, and 18 years of age for a trainer)
- satisfactorily complete the online Occupational Health and Safety Program
- pay the prescribed fees.
