Approval to Transport Pearl Oysters - Western Australia

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to bring live pearl oysters into Western Australia from outside the state, or transport diseased pearl oysters within Western Australia.

If you intend to transport healthy pearl oysters within Western Australia you do not need this approval. Transporting pearl oysters means moving them either into Western Australia from outside the state, or moving them out of a hatchery, quarantine site or fishery zone within Western Australia.

Eligibility requirements

You will be required to provide the Agency with a Certificate of Health for the pearl oysters issued by an approved fish pathologist if you intend to transport pearl oysters within or into Western Australia.

To be eligible for transport, the oysters must be:

  • certified as healthy to be imported into Western Australia
  • certified as unhealthy due to the presence of oyster oedema disease to be transported within Western Australia.
