You may be required to make an abandoned tank notification if a tank at your workplace was previously part of a hazardous chemicals storage and handling system and has been out of use for a significant period of time or is to be permanently taken out of use.
A tank may be subject to the notification requirement if it is an underground, partially underground or fully mounded tank with a design capacity exceeding 500L which was last used to store a flammable gas or flammable liquid.
