Approval as a Gaming Machine Technician - Australian Capital Territory


You will require this approval if you intend to service or repair gaming machines within a licensed premises. For the purpose of this approval, a licensed premises is one that holds a General or On Liquor Licence. This approval permits a person to:

  • act as an employee at a licensed premise to open machines for minor repairs and to replenish coin supply
  • act as a technician employed to service and repair you employer's machines throughout the Australian Capital Territory.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • be employed by a gaming machine service company
  • be a person of good fame and character
  • not have serious criminal convictions
  • provide a letter from the licensee nominating you as a technician, stating your full name and address
  • provide a copy of the police receipt as evidence that you have undergone a police fingerprinting and character check
  • provide two passport sized photos, a Statutory Declaration, and other documentation as requested
  • provide evidence of Australian residential status if applicant is not an Australian citizen.

Approvals are valid for 3 years or cancelled upon termination of employment.
