Building Licence - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need a building licence if you intend to carry out commercial or residential building work. There are four classes of licence:

  • Class A (unlimited)
  • Class B (medium rise, up to 3 storeys)
  • Class C (low rise, residential, up to 2 storeys)
  • Class D (non-structural work)

To undertake specialist building work, you must have it added to your licence, known as an endorsement. Specialist building work includes:

  • Demolition of a building
  • Installation of a swimming pool.
