You must comply with this standard if you operate, or intend to operate, a service providing care to intoxicated persons or people that have problems with drugs and alcohol.
The standard establishes minimum requirements for the manner in which you provide your service and is intended to provide a system to help maintain the dignity and privacy of persons under your care, as well as protecting their health and safety. Topics covered by the standard are:
- respect for clients
- suitability, safety and security of facilities
- care and monitoring of clients
- skills qualifications and training of carers
- record keeping
- confidentiality of information.
