Certificate of Compliance - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this certificate upon the completion of a structure or development on your land. Please be aware that all land in the ACT is leased from the Crown, and is subject to an agreement which may provide restrictions on the type of construction or development you may undertake.

The purpose of this certificate is to demonstrate that you have complied with the relevant provisions relating to your building and / or development within your lease agreement. This certificate allows you to sell your property without having to apply for a consent to transfer. A consent to transfer is needed when your land doesn't comply with the building and development agreement.

This certificate may be issued even if the structure or development is only partly compliant with the lease agreement and / or subject to you complying with further conditions. If you intend to sell your non-compliant structure or development you may need to seek the consent of the Agency to transfer the lease to another person.
