Childcare Service Licence - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to provide childcare services in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). A childcare service is a childcare centre or a family day care scheme.

If you intend to operate a childcare service that is not a childcare centre or family day care scheme, you will need to apply for a licence under the National Quality Framework.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • not have been involved in any offence involving dishonesty, fraud or possession of, or trafficking in, a drug of dependence or controlled drug
  • not have been involved in any offence involving a child or young person
  • be of sound financial reputation and stable financial background
  • be of good repute having regard to character, honesty and integrity
  • submit to a test or provide a reference or report showing your suitability
  • submit to an appropriate medical or psychiatric examination
  • show proven experience or demonstrated capacity in the provision of services to children
  • show any other consideration relevant to your ability to provide services for children.
