Code of Practice for Animal Boarding Establishments - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need to comply with this code if you operate, or intend to operate, an animal boarding establishment. Animal boarding establishments are premises where you take care of other people's domestic animals for a fee. For the purposes of this code, domestic animals are limited to:

  • dogs
  • cats
  • puppies
  • kittens.

The code sets out the operational requirements that animal boarding establishments must comply with, including:

  • housing
  • hygiene
  • management
  • health care
  • diet
  • exercise
  • transport
  • disposal of animals
  • processes for lost, injured or deceased animals.
