Building Surveyor Licensing - Australian Capital Territory


You will need this licence if you intend to supply building certification services as a surveyor in either the construction industry or work assessment service. A building surveyor assesses building and construction work to ensure that the works comply with all legislative requirements.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a building surveyor licence you must:

  • hold and provide evidence for an applicable insurance policy
  • have sufficient financial resources
  • have the applicable qualifications for your class of licence
  • be registered with the Institute of Engineers Australia or accredited with the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors
  • complete an online course on the ACT building regulatory system.
