Firearms Collectors Licence - Australian Capital Territory


You will need this licence if you intend to collect and possess firearms that have a historical, commemorative, and thematic or investment value.

A firearm manufactured on or after 1 January 1900 must be rendered temporarily incapable of being fired by removal of the bolt, firing pin or the use of a trigger lock. Category C or D firearms in the collection must be rendered permanently inoperable.

This licence does not permit the collection of ammunition; this is a separate application process, to which other conditions will apply.

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be a member of a club or association approved by the Agency
  • the collection must be of a significant commemorative, historical, thematic or investment value.
