Issue of Trader's Plates - Australian Capital Territory


You may need these plates if you operate a business engaged in the manufacturing, dealing, repairing or transportation of registrable vehicles. Correctly displayed trader's plates enable an unregistered vehicle to be driven on public roads. Examples of when this may occur include either a:

  • customer test driving a brand new unregistered car from an authorised dealership
  • mechanic driving an unregistered vehicle on the road for the purpose of determining whether a mechanical issue has been repaired.
