Legal Profession (Barristers Rules) 2014 - Australian Capital Territory


You must comply with these rules if you are a legal practitioner carrying on practice as a barrister. Ensuring that you comply with these rules shows that you have a high standard of professional conduct, as is required by a legal practitioner.

The rules set out conditions on:

  • Confidentiality and conflicts;
  • Reading;
  • Continuing professional development;
  • Disclosure;
  • Client access;
  • Advertising;
  • Specialisation; and
  • Discrimination and sexual harassment.
