Opioid Detoxification Licence - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need to apply for this licence if you intend to operate a private centre offering opioid detoxification services to patients using opioid antagonists. Opioid detoxification centres provide rapid detoxification, which is the process of accelerating withdrawal from heroin (or other opioids) by the administration of an opioid antagonist.

This licence is needed for the provision of both:

  • methadone
  • buprenorphine.

Please be aware that hospitals do not need this licence.
