You need to be registered to practise as a paramedic. Registered paramedics provide emergency care to sick or injured people outside a hospital or care facility and can use the protected title of paramedic or paramedicine.
You must be registered if you work in a non-clinical paramedic role but you will not need this registration if you are a:
- student
- medic
- volunteer ambulance officer
- emergency medical technician (EMT).
There are three different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- limited
- non-practising.
