Permit to Teach - ACT - Australian Business Licence and Information Service

Description

You will require a permit if you intend to teach in a school without teaching qualifications.

This authorisation is available for applicants intending to take on a specific teaching role for a specified period of time. It is granted where there is not a registered teacher available to fill a position and when an applicant for the position does not meet the eligibility requirements for either full or provisional registration.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you will need to ensure that you meet the following criteria:

specialist knowledge, training, skills or qualifications, or have completed a teaching qualification as deemed satisfactory by the agency
have been offered a teaching position in a school where a suitable registered teacher is not available
have oral and written English language communication requirements as set out in the regulation
be registered to work with vulnerable people
be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, have permanent resident status or have a valid work visa allowing you to work in Australia
meet any additional requirements.
