Preventing and Responding to Bullying Code of Practice - Australian Capital Territory


You may need to comply with this code if you intend to operate a business and you employ staff to undertake work for you, or if you direct or influence work carried out by employees.

It is an employer's responsibility to ensure that all instances of bullying in the workplace are addressed and responded to in compliance with this code.

For the purpose of complying with this code, bullying is repeated unreasonable behaviour directed towards a worker or group of workers that creates a risk to health and safety. Bullying includes:

  • verbal abuse
  • putting someone down
  • spreading rumours or innuendo about someone
  • interfering with someone's personal property or work equipment.
