You will need this licence if you intend to operate as an agent on behalf of clients for the sale of certain goods or services. These licences allow a sole trader, a partnership or a firm to trade as a real estate agent, stock and station agent, or a business agent.
Different types of agents deal with different goods and services:
- real estate agent: involves sales, property management and trust accounting
- stock and station agent: involves rural sales, rural property management and trust accounting
- business agent: involves business sales, associated dealings and trust accounting.
Agent licences are divided into two classes (class 1 and class 2). All licensees in charge of a real estate business must hold a class 1 agent licence.
