Register as a Psychologist - Australian Capital Territory


You need to be registered to practise as a psychologist in Australia. A psychologist studies, diagnoses and treats the mental processes and behaviour of their patients. The title of psychologist is protected and you must be registered to use it.

The types of activities considered a part of psychology may be updated or changed from time to time.

There are three different types of registration offered to practitioners:

  • general
  • provisional
  • non-practising.

  • clinical psychology
  • counselling psychology
  • forensic psychology
  • heath psychology
  • clinical neuropsychology
  • organisational psychology
  • sport and exercise psychology
  • education and development psychology.
