Architect Registration - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this registration if you intend to provide architectural services in connection with the design, planning or construction of buildings. If you intend to operate a company or partnership providing architectural services then you will need to nominate a registered architect to the Agency, which may be yourself, to ensure compliance with all requirements related to providing and advertising architectural services.

As a registered architect, you may use the terms registered architect, architect and architectural services to advertise your business.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • hold a degree or diploma in architecture; recognised by the Agency
  • produce sufficient evidence that you possess the required knowledge, skill and experience for the competent practice of architecture
  • have passed the Architectural Practice Exam, or similar exam approved by the Agency
  • provide one personal reference indicating good character
  • provide one professional reference, preferably signed by an architect
  • provide one passport-size photograph.

 

If you hold a current equivalent registration in New Zealand or an Australian State or Territory, you may be eligible to apply for this registration under mutual recognition arrangements.
