Owners of thoroughbred race horses in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) must register their horse(s) in order to be entered into any race or official trial. Registration refers to the official naming of a horse for racing or breeding. Horses that are unnamed must be registered before they can be entered into official trials or races.
Please be aware that:
- there are vaccination requirements for a registered horse
- any horse registered in a country other than Australia may be endorsed to race in Australia for twelve months
- you must comply with the specified rules and your registration may be subject to conditions.
Please refer to the rules for more information on the types of conditions that may be set.
