If you intend to conduct a controlled sports event, you must apply for registration or notification depending on the type of event. Controlled sport includes combat sports and other high risk sport activities, such as a boxing contest.
An event is registrable if:
- it is held for a commercial purpose
- the contestants compete for money or another valuable reward
- it is held in a casino
- it is part of a bookmaking event.
If your event does not meet any of these criteria but is open to the public to attend, you must apply to notify it as a non-registrable event.
