Researcher Licence for Hemp Plants and Seeds - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to research the growing or supplying of industrial Class A or Class B hemp plants and seeds for use in plant breeding programs for developing new commercial strains of industrial hemp.

There are two categories of licences:

  • Category 1: authorises you to possess industrial, Class A and Class B hemp plants and seeds
  • Category 2: authorises you to possess industrial and Class B hemp plants and seeds.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be of good repute
  • ensure your close associates are of good repute
  • not be bankrupt or personally insolvent
  • have acquired the necessary educational or other qualifications and experience to engage in plant breeding or other research
  • have not been convicted or found guilty of an offence involving drugs in the past 5 years.

If you are applying as a corporation, you must ensure that all executive officers of the firm meet the above requirements.
