Unregistered Vehicle Permit - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You may need this permit if you intend to drive an unregistered vehicle on a road or road related area by providing it with a short-term registration period and compulsory third-party insurance cover.

This permit can only be issued if:

  • it would not be reasonable or practical to require the vehicle to be registered during the period of the permit
  • the vehicle needs to be driven for the purpose of obtaining registration, or
  • the vehicle has been driven to a location for the purpose of obtaining registration and the registration has been refused.

This permit is not intended to cover the regular use of a vehicle on a road and road related area, and must not be regarded as a substitute for full registration.
