You will require this accreditation if you intend to certify applications for plant breeder's rights. A Qualified Person (QP) is responsible for overseeing the comparative trial and for providing evidence that a new variety of plant is distinct, uniform and stable (DUS).
There are two categories of QP, consultant and non-consultant. Consultant QPs are accredited to act as consultants to all applicants. Non-consultant QPs are accredited to certify applications for which they are the breeder, owner or authorised agent or an employee of the breeder, owner or authorised agent.
