You will need this accreditation if you are an owner / entity of an accredited power station intending to invest in, or generate renewable energy, and you intend to create Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
RECs are split into types: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) and large-scale generation certificates (LGCs). RECs is used as a general term covering both STCs and LGCs.
Upon accreditation, power stations are eligible to create RECs through an internet based registry system, known as the REC-registry.
Once the RECs are created and registered, through a validation and audit process, the RECs can be traded independently of the physical electricity to third parties and provide a second revenue stream for eligible power stations.
