Description

You need to apply to become an accredited data recipient if you intend to use a consumer's CDR data to provide a product comparison, specific service or product, or create new products or services. Accredited data recipients are service providers who receive a consumer’s data after the consumer has given their consent. 

Consumer Data Right (CDR) data is a consumer's real data information, that is:

  • within a class of information specified in the designation instrument for each sector
  • wholly or partly derived from CDR data.

Eligibility requirements

To become accredited you must demonstrate that you:

  • are a fit and proper person/organisation to manage Consumer Data Right data
  • are able to take the steps required to adequately protect CDR data from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure
  • have internal dispute resolution processes meeting with the requirements of the CDR rules
  • are a member of a relevant external dispute resolution scheme
  • have adequate insurance to compensate customers for any loss that might occur from a breach of their CDR-related obligations
  • have an Australian address for service.

After receiving your accreditation, you will need to pass CDR on-boarding requirements before accreditation can take effect.

You must comply with the conditions of your accreditation and the Consumer Data Right Rules.
