Accredited Pathology Laboratories - Australian Government

Description

You will require this approval if you have a laboratory from which pathology services are provided. This licence is for the premises only and is a compulsory requirement for the claiming of Medicare benefits.

Laboratory categories include general, medical and specialised laboratories:

  • a general category laboratory operates under the supervision of a pathologist or senior scientist
  • a medical laboratory operates under a medical practitioner
  • a specialised laboratory operates under the supervision of a person with special qualifications or skills.
