You will need to be appointed if you are a qualified ophthalmologist and you intend to provide medical and eye examination services to individuals who are applying for aviation licences.

To be eligible for appointment you must:

  • be a suitably qualified ophthalmologist
  • be a registered medical practitioner / ophthalmologist
  • be competent in aviation medicine
  • have postgraduate qualifications in ophthalmology
  • be a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists
  • a copy of your resume
  • provide a certified copy of your Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine membership certificate (not required if practising outside Australia).
