Approval as a Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) - Australian Government


You will require this approval if you intend to provide firefighting services and rescue operations at an aerodrome. An aerodrome is an area of land or water, including any buildings, installations and equipment, which is used wholly or partly for the arrival, departure or movement of aircraft.

It is a requirement that any rescue operation or firefighting on aerodrome property is undertaken by authorised individuals.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • Submit an application form providing your name and address or if you are applying as a corporations, submit an application form providing the registered address, Australian Company Name and details of all personnel;
  • Specify the location of the operation;
  • Specify the category of service to be provided;
  • Provide details of your Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Provide a copy of your Organisational Chart; and
  • Provide copies of your Operations Manual.
