Approval for Events on National Land - Australian Government

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to host an event on National Land within Canberra.

This approval is required for both public and private events, some of the types of events include:

  • weddings
  • birthday and engagement parties
  • vow renewals
  • farewells / memorials
  • concerts
  • circuses.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • provide evidence of appropriate public liability insurance
  • provide a copy of your approved ACT Government Application to Use a Public Place form, if required for the location
  • provide a map showing the structures on the site.

Please be aware that you will also need a works approval if you require any of the following for your event:

  • tents, marquees or sun shelters
  • vehicle access
  • temporary sheds
  • jumping castles or amusement rides
  • platforms or stages
  • scaffolding and / or towers for cameras or sound systems  
  • signage, flags or banners
  • portable toilets
  • pickets, stakes or fences.
