You will require this approval if you operate a private hospital and intend to run a hospital pharmacy to supply medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Approval is granted to the proprietor of the hospital, not the pharmacy.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
For private hospitals, approval may be granted where the benefits are being supplied to patients who receive treatment in or at the hospital.
