Description

Borrowing institutions, such as museums, art galleries, libraries and archives will need this approval to temporarily exhibit cultural objects on loan from overseas. This approval covers all objects that are of interest for any the following reasons:

  • archaeological
  • artistic
  • ethnological
  • historical
  • literary
  • scientific
  • technological.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must:

  • collect and publicly exhibit objects that are of archaeological, artistic, ethnological, historical, literary, scientific or technological interest
  • show expertise in the management of collections of art and cultural objects
  • have clear procedures for the identification of the provenance of objects collected and exhibited
  • have clear procedures for negotiating temporary loan arrangements
  • show that the lender has the legal authority to lend the object
  • show that valid export licences or permits have been received for the object in its country of origin
  • submit a detailed application.
