Description

You will require this approval if you are a pathologist and you intend to claim Medicare benefits for pathology services you provide.

You must provide your services as a pathologist in an accredited pathology laboratory to be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

To be eligible for this approval you must:

be recognised as a medical specialist or consulting physician under Medicare
have a Medicare provider number at the location of each Accredited Pathology Laboratory (APL) where you’ll provide pathology services.
