Approved Provider of Aged Care - Australian Government

Description

You will require this approval if you intend to provide aged care services and receive payments of subsidy from the Government. Aged care approval can be for one or more types of care:

  • Residential (you must also attain accreditation to receive subsidies for residential care)
  • Home
  • Flexible.

It should be noted that, to receive a subsidy you must be allocated a subsidy place by the Agency and then apply to receive a subsidy. All locations of places for approved aged care providers are allocated by the Agency and must be applied for.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must have:

  • experience in providing aged care or other relevant forms of care
  • a understanding of approved providers responsibilities
  • a system that is or will be in place to meet these responsibilities
  • records of financial management and the methods used
  • completed a National Police Check.
  • other organisation requirements are, your organisation must:

    • be incorporated
    • be able to demonstrate how it is suitable to provide aged care
    • not have any disqualified individuals as key personnel.

    you must also comply with the standards of care.
