You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend apply for a refrigerant air-conditioning (RAC) industry permit.

RAC industry permits includes any of the following:

  • refrigerant handling licences
  • refrigerant trading authorisations
  • RAC equipment manufacturing authorisations
  • halon special permits
  • restricted refrigerant trading authorisation.

To bes eligible for a permit you must demonstrate your knowledge of any standard relevant to work to be carried out under your permit. You must carry out any work under a permit in accordance with the relevant standard.

This standard specifies requirements for ferrous and non-ferrous, fluxed or unfluxed filler metal for welding. The classification system adopted is basically in line with ANSI / AWS classification. Filler metals are given in seven groups - carbon and intermediate alloy steels, high alloy steels, cast iron, copper and copper alloys, magnesium alloys, aluminium alloys, nickel and nickel alloys.
