You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend to apply for a refrigerant air-conditioning (RAC) industry permit.

An RAC industry permit means any of the following:

  • refrigerant handling licence
  • refrigerant trading authorisation
  • RAC equipment manufacturing authorisation
  • halon special permit
  • restricted refrigerant trading authorisation.

To be eligible for a permit you must demonstrate your knowledge of any standard relevant to work to be carried out under your permit. You must carry out any work under a permit in accordance with the relevant standard.

This standard specifies requirements for round, seamless copper tubes manufactured from phosphorus-deoxidized copper containing high residual phosphorus (UNS alloy C12200) intended for use in air-conditioning and refrigeration. Requirements including chemical composition, hardness, grain-size, and manufacturing tolerances are specified.
