You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend apply for a refrigerant air-conditioning (RAC) industry permit.

RAC industry permits mean any of the following:

  • refrigerant handling licences
  • refrigerant trading authorisations
  • RAC equipment manufacturing authorisations
  • halon special permits
  • restricted refrigerant trading authorisations.

To be eligible for a permit you must demonstrate your knowledge of any standard relevant to work to be carried out under your permit. You must carry out any work under a permit in accordance with the relevant standard.

This standard specifies the testing standards for room air conditioners.
