Asbestos Removal Licence - Australian Government

Description

You will need this licence if you are licensed to self insure with the Comcare scheme and intend to conduct asbestos removal work.

Asbestos is a naturally occurring silicate mineral made up of tiny fibres. When distributed, it can produce a dust containing asbestos fibres that, when breathed in, can cause a range of health issues.

There are two classifications of asbestos removal licences:

  • Class A authorises the removal friable asbestos or asbestos contaminated dust or debris.
  • Class B allows you to remove more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos or asbestos containing material and asbestos-contaminated dust or debris associated with the removal.

Please note, organisations that operate under state or territory legislation should refer to their relevant state or territory work health and safety regulator for information on obtaining a licence.
