You may be need to comply with these standards if you intend to manufacture, supply or install a solar water heater.
The standards specify the technical and safety requirements that must be followed to ensure solar water heaters are safe and reliable. To receive product certification, a solar water heater will be assessed against the standards by an accredited body.
Solar water heaters with a storage capacity of 700 litres or less will be assessed against AS/NZS 2712:2007.
Solar water heaters with a storage capacity of more than 700 litres will also be assessed against any relevant standards in clause 1.4 of AS/NZS 2712:2007. These models may also need to meet the storage tank requirements set out in AS/NZS 4692.1:2005.
