You will require this authorisation if you intend to operate an establishment that conducts growing trials for new candidate plant varieties.
When a plant breeder applies for plant breeder's rights (PBR), the new candidate variety must be tested through a growing trial. The trial is used to confirm that the variety is clearly distinguishable from varieties that already exist.
A centralised testing centres (CTC) is able to perform:
- contract testing for third parties
- their own growing trials if they possess their own candidate variety.
