Description

You will require this authorisation if you intend to return a specific space object, or series of space objects, to a specified place or area in Australia or outside Australia.

A space object is an object which will, or part of will, go into or come back from an area beyond the distance of 100km above sea level.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to receive this authorisation you must:

  • have the necessary competence to carry out the return
  • meet the insurance / financial requirements
  • satisfy the Agency that the return has a low as reasonably practicable probability of substantial harm to public health, safety or property
  • satisfy the Agency that the space object will not contain a nuclear weapon or weapon of mass destruction of any other kind
  • satisfy the Agency that there are no national security, foreign policy or international obligations that cannot be met if registration is authorised
  • demonstrate that all necessary environmental approvals under Australian law and an adequate environmental plan, contained in an approved application form along with all supporting documentation.
