You may require this approval if you operate a vessel within Australian waters.

Approval is required if you intend to use a lifesaving appliance, item of equipment or arrangement, or make or kind of appliance or equipment that is not currently approved for such use in Australia. A certificate of approval indicates that the issuing authority is satisfied the relevant lifesaving appliance complies with all current standards.
