Description

You will require this certificate if you are not an Australian National or Resident and you intend to work on board a ship in Australian waters that is listed in the Australian International Shipping Register. You will need this certificate if you do not hold a primary certificate or certificate of recognition issued by the Agency.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate you must:

  • hold a valid certificate of competency or proficiency as rating issued by a marine administration that has a formal agreement with the Agency
  • provide evidence of an offer of employment on a ship registered in the Australian International Shipping Register
  • hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of application for a certificate
  • demonstrate competence in written and spoken English
  • hold a valid certificate of medical fitness approved by the agency.
